Dwight Duncan


Dwight Duncan worked in government for almost 25 years including as Ontario’s Deputy Premier, Minister of Finance, Chair of the Management Board of Cabinet, Chair of Cabinet, Government House Leader, Minister of Energy, Minister of Revenue, Minister of Government Services, and Opposition House Leader.

He had ministerial responsibility for the Ontario Securities Commission, the Ontario Energy Board, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, Hydro One, and Ontario Power Generation.

As Finance Minister, Dwight delivered six budgets, led reforms to Ontario’s tax, pension, insurance, and energy regimes as well as leading the Province’s response to the economic recession of 2008. He was also responsible for several large commercial transactions on behalf of the Province, including Ontario’s first P3 highway projects, and the financial restructuring of General Motors and Chrysler.

Before being elected to the Ontario Legislature, he served for six years as a municipal councillor in the City of Windsor.

Dwight holds an undergraduate degree in economics from McGill University as well as an MBA and Honourary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Windsor. He serves on a number of corporate and not-for-profit boards.
