Matthew is a policy professional with experience across three federal departments and in political engagement. He brings a strategic, long-term perspective to his client files and the policy development process.
Prior to joining McMillan Vantage, he worked at Transport Canada, supporting forward-looking policy initiatives and coordinating responses to Crown corporation challenges within the portfolio. He also held analyst roles with Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Veterans Affairs Canada, and later served as a Constituency Assistant to a Member of Parliament. Together, these roles have given him a broad understanding of federal government operations and the link between policymaking and political decision-making.
Beyond the public sector, Matthew has held leadership roles in academic and political spheres. At the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, he served as Program Advisor for the Master of Public Policy Student Association and as a Team Lead with the Public Good Initiative, where he worked with non-profit clients to support newcomers in Peel Region. He also served as President of the University of Ottawa Young Liberals and Student Director for the Ontario Young Liberals, advancing youth political engagement and contributing to several federal and provincial election campaigns.
Matthew holds a Master of Public Policy from the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto and a Joint Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in History and Political Science from the University of Ottawa. He is a recipient of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s Canada Graduate Scholarship, and his insights have been published by the C.D. Howe Institute.
